ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS IN HALE,

ALTRINCHAM

As we age, our skin begins to lose firmness and elasticity, and lines and wrinkles begin to show. Ageing is a natural process, but the changes it brings can negatively affect our self confidence. Anti-wrinkle injections can be effective at minimising the signs of ageing and delaying its onset.

Botulinum toxin, also known as Botox, is one of the most commonly used anti-wrinkle injections. Small amounts of Botox injected into facial muscles can delay the ageing process and help you maintain a youthful appearance for longer. It works by relaxing the facial muscles, meaning that lines and wrinkles can be prevented before they form. It is an effective treatment for existing lines and wrinkles across the face and neck, and can be combined with dermal fillers and advanced skin care products to maintain a natural looking, youthful appearance and restore your confidence.

Botox is a very effective and therefore very popular treatment at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham. Many of my clients look to Botox to restore the firmness, elasticity, and smooth skin that the ageing process causes us to gradually lose. In spite of its popularity, patients often have many questions before their first delivery of the solution, and understandably so. There are infamous cases – usually in the 90s - where some of our most loved celebrities, wanting to prolong their golden years, have overdone the Botox injections or had botch jobs where their faces have become plumped and motionless.

There are many misconceptions about Botox, the world’s go-to anti-ageing aesthetic treatment. I hope that our initial consultation, in addition to the testimonials in response to Botox treatment, will put your mind at ease. However, just to be sure, I aim to answer a number of the frequently asked questions here, and look forward to you booking your first Botox treatment soon.

COMMON USES FOR BOTOX TREATMENTS

Botox injections are commonly used to treat lines and wrinkles around the face and neck, but they can also be used to treat other conditions such as hyperhidrosis and teeth grinding. In the case of hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating in the hands, feet, armpits and face, botulinum toxin blocks the signals from the brain to the sweat glands. For bruxism or teeth grinding botulinum toxin relaxes the masseter muscle in the jaw, reducing teeth grinding.

BOTOX FAQs

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The treatment process takes very little time, and the effects of it usually become visible between 3 and 10 days afterwards. No anaesthetic is required. The effect comes on gradually, and the full result is usually reached about 3 weeks after treatment.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Each treatment usually lasts from 4-6 months. This is just an estimation, as everybody is different and results may last longer for some patients and less for others.

IS BOTOX TREATMENT PAINFUL?

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

Anti-wrinkle injections are a relatively quick and simple procedure, and you should be able to return to your daily activities immediately after treatment. Some patients report slight discomfort from the injection points but this quickly settles. Headaches and flu like symptoms are not uncommon but equally settle quickly.

IS THERE AN OPTIMUM OR MINIMUM AGE FOR BOTOX?

The wonderful thing about us humans is that we are all so naturally individual. Therefore, naturally, each of us experiences the ageing process at different times in our lives. Additionally our individual lifestyle factors vary. Those who have had more unprotected sun exposure will likely find that they age prematurely as opposed to those who have a liking for sun hats! If the visible signs of ageing are beginning to damage your self-esteem or cause stress, at whatever age, it may be time to consider Botox. Of course, waiting until lines and wrinkles are particularly deep may weaken the final results of the Botox treatment.

Please note that at KP Aesthetics in Hale, Altrincham, we will not offer Botox to teenagers as a form of anti-ageing treatment. However Botox can also be an effective treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and teeth-grinding (bruxism) where in a friendly and thorough consultation we can decide if Botox would be a good treatment plan.

IS BOTOX ONLY USED FOR ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT?

At most, patients will feel mild discomfort whilst the Botox solution is injected through a small needle into the skin. The pain from Botox delivery is certainly far less than with eyebrow waxing and is over very quickly. There are also very few, and very minor side effects and no downtime from Botox injections therefore you can resume your normal activities immediately.

WILL HAVING BOTOX MEAN LOSING MY FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?

The most common misconception about Botox is that faces will become paralysed to expression. This is not the case. Individual muscles are injected with the Botox solution therefore enabling patients to make expressions as usual, but without the definition or advancement of lines and wrinkles.

IS BOTOX ONLY FOR WOMEN?

Absolutely not; Botox is a gender unspecific treatment which is as effective in men as in women. I am very happy to see an increasing number of men coming to our Altrincham based aesthetics clinic looking to have Botox treatment. Botox makes physical improvements to the skin, but also to your attitude, the way you hold yourself, and your confidence.

IF I STOP HAVING BOTOX TREATMENT WILL MY WRINKLES WORSEN?

No. As mentioned above, Botox is also an effective treatment for bruxism, excessive and involuntary teeth grinding, and hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating in the hands, feet, armpits and face. For patients who are suffering with bruxism, Botox is injected into the masseter muscle of the jaw, causing it to relax. In doing so the Botox is able to reduce the activity of the muscle. In cases of excessive sweating, Botox injections can block the signals form the brain to the sweat glands significantly reducing the amount of sweat produced.

IS BOTOX DANGEROUS OR HARMFUL TO MY BODY?

As Botox is a prescription only medication, it has been through years of extensive research, testing, and a rigorous approval process. So safe is Botox that even the NHS use Botox to treat a number of medical conditions. As a registered and highly qualified aesthetic nurse, I will only ever use licensed Botox solution for my patients.

Botox isn’t like a peg holding your skin tightly over your face. Instead, Botox is like putting a pause on the ageing process of your skin. During the lasting effects of Botox, the wrinkles that are caused from say, frowning, or smile lines, will not be reinforced and therefore cannot worsen. As the effects of Botox begin to wear off, you may notice a gradual return of fine lines and wrinkles you had before the initial Botox injection at which point you may choose to book another Botox treatment.
